VCRC held the 12th annual Ventura Sevens tournament this past Saturday featuring 12 men teams and 5 women teams with some great competitive games across 3 fields!

We would like to thank all the teams that came out to play, our referees, and the volunteer field crew, without whom we would not be able to produce an amazing tournament on and off the pitch.

Congratulations to Anthony Rossi-Berg on winning Man of the Match honors in yesterday’s playoff match against Oceanside! Our captain has steadied the ship for us all season, and he led from the front yet again. Facing long odds against a tough team, Captain Rossi fired the team up and they responded, holding a lead after the first 20 minutes. Though the scoreboard got away from us, he brought the team back together to score three tries late in the game, allowing the boys to walk off the pitch with their heads held high.

Congratulations to Barrett Brewster on Winning Man of the Match honors in the regular season finale against Pasadena! Barrett played a crucial role in our victory over the weekend. Not only did he battle in the trenches as a second row, he served as our primary lineout jumper and place kicker, slotting 4/5 of his conversions and adding a penalty kick.

Leo made his triumphant return to the pitch three weeks ago from a torn ACL suffered in the preseason last year. Since his return he has been solid as they come.
